I lived in Japan for three months during the summer of 2015. The majority of the time I lived in the small tea farming village of Wazuka, in the Kansai region. It was in here that I met so many wonderful people who shared their amazing life stories with me, and now hold a very dear place in my heart. The town in nestled in the mountains, and full of beautiful, lush, green, hills and fields. Wazuka is responsible for the production of nearly half the tea in Kyoto prefecture and is home to around 300 farming families dating back hundreds of years. During my time there I was able to shoot photos and film one of the local authentic Japanese tea companies called Obubu. Nearby is the city of Nara, famous for it’s park which is home to wild Sika deer. I also had the opportunity to travel to the surrounding areas of Kizu, Shiga, Kyoto, Uji, and Osaka, allowing me to experience the amazing beauty and diversity of the region.
